Sensor based in-operando lithium-ion battery monitoring in dynamic service environment

In this work, a dynamic testing platform to analyze lithium-ion battery (LIB) performance degradation and safety during in-service vibration impacts is presented. The LIBs are cycled until end of life (EOL) under various conditions, providing in-operando examination. A sensor network constructed consisting resistance temperature detector (RTD), an accelerometer, eddy current shunt resistor incorporated into the setup. Mechanisms LIB capacity fade, rise, deformation from cycling in representative environments analyzed compared with results theoretical analyses as well electrode structure evaluation. identifies critical periods high heat generation stress accumulation rates. By comparing single cell pack performances, complex effects examined boundary conditions on analyzed.
